چکیده
Abstract We determine explicitly and discuss in detail the effects of joint presence a longitudinal transversal (random) magnetic field on phases Random Energy Model its hierarchical generalization, GREM. Our results extent known both classical case vanishing quantum for field. Following Derrida Gardner, we argue that has to be implemented hierarchically also Quantum show this ensures shrinking spin glass phase fields as is expected Sherrington–Kirkpatrick model.

Quantum Spin Glasses
Ising spin glasses in a transverse field exhibit a zero temperature quantum phase transition, which is driven by quantum rather than thermal fluctuations. They constitute a universality class that is significantly different from the classical, thermal phase transitions. Most interestingly close to the transition in finite dimensions a quantum Griffiths phase leads to drastic consequences for va...
متن کاملSpin glasses enter the quantum regime
Spin glasses are among the most interesting and complicated forms of condensed matter. Their study has justifiably engrossed a large number of experimental and theoretical physicists over the last two decades. With rare exceptions, this work has been in a regime where the quantum-mechanical nature of the microscopic constituents could be ignored, and the collective properties of the sample were...
متن کاملStudy of the de Almeida-Thouless line using power-law diluted one-dimensional Ising spin glasses.
We test for the existence of a spin-glass phase transition, the de Almeida-Thouless line, in an externally applied (random) magnetic field by performing Monte Carlo simulations on a power-law diluted one-dimensional Ising spin glass for very large system sizes. We find that a de Almeida-Thouless line occurs only in the mean-field regime, which corresponds, for a short-range spin glass, to dimen...
متن کاملQuantum field theory of metallic spin glasses.
We introduce an effective field theory for the vicinity of a zero temperature quantum transition between a metallic spin glass (“spin density glass”) and a metallic quantum paramagnet. Following a mean field analysis, we perform a perturbative renormalization-group study and find that the critical properties are dominated by static disorder-induced fluctuations, and that dynamic quantum-mechani...
متن کاملGauge Theory for Quantum Spin Glasses
The gauge theory for random spin systems is extended to quantum spin glasses to derive a number of exact and/or rigorous results. The transverse Ising model and the quantum gauge glass are shown to be gauge invariant. For these models, an identity is proved that the expectation value of the gauge invariant operator in the ferromagnetic limit is equal to the one in the classical equilibrium stat...
